Centering Prayers – Tuesday 9 am
The centering prayer group at St. George meets every Tuesday at 9 AM in the conference room in the parish hall.Centering Prayer is a receptive method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, prayer in which we experience God’s presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship..
Blessing of the Animals
We offer a Blessing of the Animals on the Saturday closest to the Feast of St. Francis, which falls on October 4. St. Francis of Assisi was well known for his love of animals. At the Blessing of the Animals, people remember and emulate Francis’ example of love for animals and appreciation of God’s creations. Parishioners, neighbors and friends bring pets of all types to the parish courtyard as well as photographs of beloved pets from the past, to receive a blessing from our clergy. The Liturgy is a time to celebrate all of creation.
