The Chetwynd Chronicles by  D.R.S.Bott.

The book begins with a forward by the great grandson of G.C. Stapylton whose family conceived of a British colony in the Florida territory. Stapylton looms large throughout the book. Chetwynd lies directly north of Fruitland Park and is now a part of it. Bott, a St George parishioner, traces not only the history of this era but also gives the reader a feel for the people who created the community. From the shock of moving from the upperclass locum of England to the frontier state of Florida, she covers the society they built, their recreation, love, business and spiritual lives. The devastation of the great freeze in the latter part of the 1800’s and the part each colonist played are also covered. Donna Bott has made an immense contribution to the history of our state and is to be highly commended for it.
