This was an excellent session. I don’t think I realized how much the Psalms included prophecy until this study. Pertaining to your question “Did you ever feel abandoned by God,” I have certainly felt as if my prayers weren’t being answered at different times in my life. But He was answering them… just not as fast or the way I expected. God works on his own timeline, and it’s not always like ours. I have since accepted that God will handle my problems eventually. In the meantime, I’ve had to learn to work on my patience and continue to pray about whatever issue is troubling me.
Hello from Mississippi
This was the best lesson yet. I use KING JAMES I was telling my sister Mary Ann to truly understand some scriptures my go to is The Message so I was thrilled when you mentioned that was a good translation
Bible prophesy is my favorite to study to see how it all ties together to make one big picture
You ask for comment on feeling abandoned , what helped and turned you around ? I think we all have felt like the worm you described and reach our lowest point. Mine came in 1976 when I experienced death of a beloved that was my rock. Angry ,lost ,completely overwhelmed there was no where to go but up. Yes I wailed and God sent a calmness for me to realize if I followed HIM HE would someday give me my hearts desire So I will patiently wait for day.
Nora,
I think our laments are a bit like “dumping the mud.” It is therapeutic to do so. God is good all the time, all the time God is good. You can’t walk with God without having those moments when you feel abandoned- but then found!
Mary Ann,
I think Americans expect God to answer with the timeframe that is so American. But, His answers come the way a harvest comes. You plant a field, but it takes time for the wheat to come in and to be harvested- and made to be bread, too!
